Meet Kelsey

Kelsey Berkley is a highly skilled trial attorney and dedicated advocate for individuals navigating complex family law and criminal matters. As a co-founder of The Reputation Law Group, an all-woman-owned and operated firm, Kelsey brings a unique combination of litigation experience, strategic problem-solving, and compassionate client representation to every case she handles.

Having worked as a paralegal at a fast paced Denver based firm upon graduating CU Boulder, Kelsey has a unique history in the family law field. She honed in her knowledge of family law matters and gained significant experience before even pursuing a law degree. During law school in Kansas City, Kelsey interned and volunteered for the Midwest Innocence Project, the Missouri State Public Defender, and the Western District of Missouri Federal Public Defender, learning trial skills and sentencing mitigation. Kelsey could not be away from the mountains any longer and returned to Colorado as a Deputy Public Defender with the Colorado State Public Defender's Office after passing the bar exam.

Kelsey gained extensive courtroom experience representing clients in high-stakes criminal cases as a Public Defender in El Paso and Teller Counties, representing individuals charged with both misdemeanors and felonies. Kelsey has litigated more than 50 felony and misdemeanor jury trials, including cases involving domestic violence, DUI/DWAI offenses, aggravated robbery, and drug-related charges. Kelsey has also practiced in various Municipal Courts including Aurora, Black Hawk, Broomfield, and Denver. Her deep understanding of issues of criminal procedure has led her to argue constitutional motions hearings and prepare numerous appellate briefs.

Kelsey incorporates her extensive knowledge of family law into her criminal expertise, giving her a distinct advantage as these issues often overlap. She works extensively on cases involving divorce, parenting time, child support, and allocation of parental responsibilities. With much of her practice devoted to parenting matters, she understands the emotional complexities and prioritizes open, clear communication with her clients. Kelsey ensures her clients receive informed, strategic guidance while navigating these sensitive legal issues.

Kelsey's dedication to clients and legal excellence has earned her industry recognition, including being named a Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2023 and 2024. As a young Public Defender, she was honored as Professional of the Year by ARC of the Pikes Peak Region for her representation of intellectually and developmentally disabled clients.
